My First Benefit

The business department put on a benefit a couple Fridays ago. This benefit was for one of our business professors. It was in celebration of the twins him and his wife lost a year ago. This benefit included selling of baked goods and milkshakes. Along with minute to win it games and a memorial service was put on. All the money that was brought in that day was donated to the Morgantown Hospital. It was a great cause and a good time.

I offered to make cupcakes for the benefit. When deciding what kind of cupcakes to make I thought to myself who doesn't like peanut butter and chocolate?! So I went with a Reese Cupcake. I hate hate hate making things out of boxes. I make all of my cupcakes from scratch. For these Reese Cupcakes I made a chocolate base with a fudge filling surprise for the cupcakes. Then I topped it off with peanut butter frosting made with the rich Reese peanut butter. For a little decoration I put crumbles of Reese's on top.

They turned out great! The benefit started at 8 and they were all sold out by 9. This was my first time selling my cupcakes and let me tell you it was a wonderful feeling seeing so many people enjoy them. It was a confidence booster seeing how fast they were selling and with the money going to such a great cause it made it 5 times better.

If you're a chocolate and peanut butter kinda person you know who to call to cure you of that sweet tooth! Laur Laurs' cupcakes is here for you just email us at laurlaurssweettreats@gmail.com or give me Lauren a shout at 740-258-9890. We look forward to speaking to you soon.

  1. I tried this exact cupcake from Lauren about 3 months ago and it was delicious! The frosting was more whipped and the chocolate not too much so I did not feel the sweetness overload that you sometimes get with cupcakes. The frosting compliments the chocolate cupcake and makes it taste just like a Reese cake! It was fabulous and I would recommend anyone trying these in the future I know they are one of my favorite cupcakes.

Run for the Roses Bridal Shower

Good Evening and Happy Wednesday!! I had a high school friend approach me a little while back to make her sister's bridal shower cupcakes. Her sister attended Kentucky University, where she met her   FiancĂ© .  After they get married they will be moving back to Kentucky. As you probably collected Kentucky has a BIG part of their relationship.  The bride’s sister wanted to somehow incorporate Kentucky into the cupcakes for the bridal shower.  We made Run for the Roses mini cupcakes to add a creative twist to the bridal shower. She requested mini cupcakes so they are easy to grab and go. The other thought was it wouldn’t be too messy for the women who 'dressed up for the derby". We loved this idea! The flavors that she requested were Mocha Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and Strawberry Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting . With the frosting piped and colored to look like roses. These cupcakes turned out simple and classy....

Love You More Wedding

Good afternoon everybody. I wanted to share with you a wedding we did over the weekend. We are always so happy to be a part of someone’s big day. The bride and groom requested a vanilla on vanilla cake just for them. Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting.   Here is the cake without the fancy decorations. I loved how simple and classy this cake turned out. The wedding was in a cute little barn. Their colors were light blue, dark blue, light pink and burlap. We wanted to make the cake pop and go along with the theme of the venue. We added some burlap and they picked out an adorable cute topper that said I love you more. The burlap and the cake topper took this cake to a new level. We loved it and so did our customers.  In addition to the cake they requested cupcakes for their guests. I love this idea. I think having cupcakes for your guest to grab and go back to their table is so convenient and it looks great. They wanted Chocolate Cupcakes with Almond...
